The best coffee break in the world

I was feeling ravenous and decided I couldn't wait until lunch to eat, so I popped down to Opera (the local coffee shop/patisserie) for a croissant.

I'd written a semi-harsh review of Opera on Yelp, and - get this - a girl who works there read it and recognized me the next time I came in. She called out my name and made sure my experience was extra-special. When she delivered by to-go order to me, she even commented "You look beautiful today!" Awww.

So the place successfully won back my business by openly buttering me up. I love being buttered up, so it works for me.

Today, I ordered a plain croissant and a mocha. The girl made a big show of putting an espresso bean on top of the mocha for me, and gave me a little jar of raspberry jam for free.

Moral of the story: never underestimate the power of a pissy Yelp review.

haha, that's great. i'm afraid to be associated with my yelp reviews because i always assume they'll be even snottier to me next time. good for the barista for trying to turn things around.
