Have you considered learning to sew? A lot of the dresses and tops you like should be very straightforward projects with a machine that's designed to handle knits. I don't sew because I dress in Tailoring Hell, where one needs a Ph.D. in pattern-making to construct my clothes, but if you already like garments that are more simply cut or more reliant on draping/gathering, you're a natural candidate for DIY.

You're totally right. I have some rudimentary sewing skills, but not anywhere near what I'd need to actually make a decent, wearable garment. I've definitely thought about it, but at the same time, the enjoyment I derive from shopping is significant. I dunno, I'll have to think about it, and maybe buy a cool secondhand sewing machine.
