One of my color schemes this spring is kelly or grass green paired with gray, white and/or silver, often accented with a bit of black. I have used my editing skills to show that Shopbop's buyers are totally on board with this color scheme as well. Behold!

Shopbop sale alert + biased picks

Shopbop.com may be full of loud prints, unforgiving fabrics and daring cuts that only look good on models, but they have some bangin' sales and right now is no exception. I found lots of goodies mixed in with not-so-goodies.

Recommended for ladies with slim shoulders and a nice ass. (If this was a fashion magazine the phrase would be "curvy derrière" or other such nonsense, but let's call a spade a spade.)

Silk in pretty colors? Yes, please! I would cinch the belt a lot more, though, or replace it with a patent leather belt of some sort.

I am obsessed with Henleys. I like how Henleys look sporty and relaxed, even when they're worn by uppity bitches like me.

I don't need to tell you that I'd rock the hell out of this dress. Also, it pains me that the leggings rend still has legs (heh). I thought that trend was old in, like, 2003.

Finally, a print I actually like! I would suggest that you pair this flowy top with skinny jeans, but then I'd have to kill myself.

For the sake of comparison, this is my holiday/party dress that I was planning to wear to this year's end-of-the-year parties, before I found the blue Armani Exchange dress. Except my version of this dress is black and the secondary color is champagne/gold. It also needs to be hemmed, because I am a stumpy little forest person (just kidding). It's a beautiful, soft, swingy, silk dress that can be worn in a few different ways. Still, I'm thinking I'll save it for spring, or for the next time I go salsa dancing or something (which, come to think of it, makes total sense because I believe the new boyfriend likes to salsa).

Edit: I realized I'll probably be going to a fancy restaurant with my ex for his B-day this weekend, and this dress will be perfect. I need to get it hemmed, STAT.

The Faces of Shopbop, Part 3

This Shopbop model caught my eye from the moment she appeared on the site. She's like a vaguely Asian Neve Campbell, except Neve Campbell takes her clothes off in movies, and this model flaunts them on camera. Smashing!

The photo in the middle of the bottom row of the collage is my favorite. It's so, "Oh shit guys, I heard my dad's car in the driveway! Hide the weed!"

Also, this model looks to the right a lot. What was over there, the catering table? Musta been the catering table.


Here she is looking embarrassed while wearing a truly hideous outfit. Note to shopbop stylists: don't ever pair white shoes with black tights again, or I will loudly opine that y'all are smoking crack.

Whoa! Maybe I spoke too soon! Is she wearing a trash bag? And did she stick her legs through the neck of my nightshirt? Because that shit ain't cool. Also, check out her wonky eyes (click for big). Girl's coming down from a three-day bender, I can tell. Maybe that explains the trash bag plus upside-down nightshirt combo.

Meanwhile, the sultry brunette is still undressing me with her eyes. It's cool though, I'm wearing my assless chaps tonight.

The Faces of Shopbop, Part 2

Why does she always look so miserable? Does her credit card keep getting declined? Did she just discover she's lactose intolerant? Did the photographer murder her parents? Or, worse...is she miserable because she has no teeth? Because this girl never smiles.

Every model has her signature. Some look haughty; some vaguely dissatisfied; some too glamorous too care.

And then there's an anonymous brunette model on shopbop.com, who often looks like she wants to mount the camera.

Now, don't get me wrong. This model is stunningly beautiful and makes any piece of clothing look fantastic.

But sometimes I really think that her internal dialogue when posing must have been, "Hey! Buy this sweater. Also, wanna fuck?"
